Only registered members of che55.com may post messages on our forums, however anyone is free to view the messages.
Our forums have been integrated into our existing login system, so our members only need to login in the usual fashion. Cookies need to be enabled in your internet browser in order to login. Your username, existing avatar picture and time zone information will be used throughout the forums. You cannot hide your username from any messages your post.
To start a new topic just select the forum you need and scroll down to the post form at the bottom of the screen. Don't forget to add a topic title to your post or it will be rejected.
The same procedure applies to posting on individual message threads except you don't need to add a topic heading, just navigate to the required thread you wish to post a reply to.
Unless you are a board administrator or moderator, you can only edit your own posts. You can edit a post by clicking the edit button for the relevant post, for only a limited time after the post was made. You cannot delete your own messages once posted.
Please make sure all your posts honour the forum rules and courtesy.
You will notice there are a few options to format your posts, some you will be probably familiar with already.
Formatting is done using BBcode (Bulletin board code) similar in style to HTML, but tags are enclosed in square brackets [ and ] rather than < and >. It is not possible to post HTML code and have it rendered as HTML. Most formatting can be carried using BBcode instead.
[b]Bold Text[/b] Text between these tags will be rendered as BOLD text. You can click on the bold icon to insert tags or you can enter them yourself. Obviously the tags disappear when rendered.
[i]Italic text[/i] Text between these tags will be rendered as ITALIC text.
[imgs=http://www.example.com/my-picture.png]My photo[/imgs] You may also add a link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own computer (unless it's a publicly accessible server).
[pre]Preformatted text[/pre] Text between these tag will preserve critical text formatting and rendered in mono space font.
[script]Script text[/script] Used to preserve formatting of code and avoid parsing as BBcode and/or smiley's.
[youtube=http://www.youtube-url-here] To add a youtube video to your post. Just enter the url of the video when prompted for the link.
You can add smilies to you posts. These are small images which can be used to express a feeling using a short code, e.g. :) denotes happy, while :( denotes sad. The full list can be viewed in the posting form by clicking on "More smilies...". Try not to overuse smilies, however, as they can quickly render a post unreadable.
There is also a "disable smilies in post" option. Use this if you don't want smilies to be displayed. Using this function you could then enter the text ":)" instead of the happy smilie appearing.
[font#DF0101]Text colour rendered in red[/font] Use the font tags to colour text.
Most tags can be entered automatically by clicking on the relative icon. If, however you have javascript disabled in your browser you will have to type these tags manually.
There are three user levels that members come under. The member's user level is displayed just above their avatar picture in their posts.
Administrator
The administrator is the member assigned with the highest level of control over the entire board. This member can control all facets of board operation, including setting permissions, banning users, creating moderators, deleting or editing any posts, etc...
There is only one administrator with this forum and that member's username is andy75180.
Moderators
Moderators are individuals who look after the forums from day to day. They have the authority to edit or delete posts, lock, unlock, move, delete topics in the forums they moderate. Generally, moderators are present to prevent users from going off-topic or posting abusive or offensive material. Moderators are selected and assigned only by the forum administrator.
